CTET (Central Teacher Eligibility Test) is conducted by NTA and is mandatory for teaching in central government schools (KVS, NVS, DSSSB, EMRS, Army schools, Kendriya Vidyalayas). CTET Paper 1 qualifies for Class 1-5 (Primary) teaching; Paper 2 for Class 6-8 (Upper Primary). CTET certificate is valid for lifetime (made permanent in 2021).

Paper 1 (150 qs, 150M, 2.5 hrs): Child Development & Pedagogy 30M + Language I 30M + Language II 30M + Mathematics 30M + Environmental Studies 30M. Paper 2 (150 qs, 150M, 2.5 hrs): CDP 30M + Language I 30M + Language II 30M + Mathematics/Science OR Social Studies 60M. No negative marking.
CTET is an eligibility test — it has no direct salary. Passing CTET enables you to apply for teaching jobs in central schools: KVS PRT ₹44,900 (Level 7), NVS TGT ₹44,900, DSSSB TGT ₹44,900, EMRS TGT ₹44,900. CTET certificate validity: Lifetime (permanent, as per NEP 2020 implementation).
