Railway PRT (Primary Railway Teacher) is a teaching post in Indian Railways' own school network — Central Railway Schools (similar to Kendriya Vidyalayas) attached to Railway colonies across India. These schools cater to railway employees' children. PRT posts require B.Ed and CTET (Central Teacher Eligibility Test) qualification.
Qualification: B.Ed + CTET/TET. Age: 18–42 yrs. Selection through written exam (Subject Knowledge + Teaching Aptitude + GK) + demo teaching + interview. Each Railway zone (17 zones) recruits its own PRT teachers separately through Railway Recruitment Cells or directly through Zonal Railways. No centralised RRB notification for teaching posts.
Railway PRT is at Level 7 (₹44,900 basic), equivalent to primary teacher pay in central government schools. Gross with DA, HRA, TA: ₹75,000–₹90,000. Free railway pass, railway residential school quarters, and medical benefits.
