Is There Negative Marking in the TS Constable Exam?
Yes. As per the official 2026 notification (Rc No. 189/Rect./Rect-2/2026, dated 29 July 2026), the Preliminary Written Test has negative marking: for each question, if a candidate darkens exactly one bubble and it is the correct answer, they get full marks for that question. If no bubble is darkened, they get zero marks with no penalty. In every other case — a wrong answer, or more than one bubble darkened — 20% of the marks allotted to that question is deducted as a negative mark. Since each of the 200 questions carries 1 mark, this works out to a deduction of 0.2 marks per wrong answer.
