📢 RRB Technician 2026: Railway Recruitment Boards notified 14,298 Technician vacancies (CEN 02/2024) for Technician Grade III (ITI level) and Technician Grade I (Diploma level). Both ALP and Technician share the same CBT-1 and CBT-2 Part A. CBT-2 Part B is the trade-specific qualifying test unique to Technician.

RRB Technician posts cover all technical maintenance trades in Indian Railways — Electrical, Mechanical, Signal & Telecom, Engineering, and other departments. Technician Grade III (Level 2, ₹19,900) requires ITI certificate. Technician Grade I (Level 5, ₹29,200) requires Diploma in Engineering. Both share CBT exam structure with RRB ALP.

  • Technician Grade III: ITI certificate in relevant trade (Electrician, Fitter, Electronic Mechanic, Mechanic Diesel, Refrigeration & AC, etc.) from NCVT/SCVT recognised institute
  • Technician Grade I: Diploma in Engineering (Electrical/Mechanical/Electronics) from recognised polytechnic/institute

Exam Pattern 2026

Technician and ALP share CBT-1 and CBT-2 Part A. CBT-2 Part B (75 qs, 60 mins) is trade-specific: questions from the ITI trade/diploma branch you have studied. Part B is qualifying only — you just need to pass; it does not affect merit ranking.

Salary & Pay Scale

Technician Grade III at Level 2: Basic ₹19,900/month. Grade I at Level 5: Basic ₹29,200/month. Gross salary (Grade III): ₹32,000–₹48,000; (Grade I): ₹50,000–₹65,000. Railway perquisites: free travel pass, subsidised quarters, railway hospital access, uniform allowance.
