Frequently Asked Questions

RBI Grade B is widely considered one of the toughest bank exams due to: unique Phase 2 with ESI (Economic & Social Issues) and Finance & Management papers requiring deep analytical writing, small number of vacancies (200+) vs massive applicant pool (5+ lakh), and high academic bar (60% graduation). However, focused 6–9 month preparation with the right resources makes it crackable.
ESI (Economic & Social Issues) is a distinctive paper in RBI Grade B Phase 2. It covers macro-economics, Indian economy, poverty, employment, agriculture, industry, external sector, monetary policy, banking regulation, financial markets, and international economic issues. It requires both conceptual understanding and analytical writing ability.
RBI Grade B basic pay is ₹35,150/month. However, with DA, HRA, CCA, Special Allowance, LTC, medical benefits, and performance bonuses, gross monthly compensation is ₹1,00,000–₹1,20,000. Annual CTC including all benefits and PF is approximately ₹16–₹20 lakh. RBI also provides subsidised housing to officers.
