Exam Pattern 2026

KVS PRT Selection: Written Test (180 qs, 3 hrs) — General English 10M + General Hindi 10M + General Knowledge & Current Affairs 10M + Reasoning Ability 10M + Computer Literacy 10M + Pedagogy (Child Development & Pedagogy) 50M + Subject (Primary Teaching) 80M. Followed by Interview/Demo Teaching. Total 100M interview weight.

Salary & Pay Scale

KVS PRT Level 7: Basic ₹44,900/month. Gross with DA, HRA, TA: ₹75,000–₹90,000. KVS also provides: free children education in KV, free accommodation (if available), CGHS medical, LTC, pension under NPS. One of the most sought-after primary teaching jobs in India.

KVS PRT: Written Test (180 qs, 3 hrs, 180M) → Subject knowledge paper → Interview + Demo Teaching. Written test has: General English 10M, Hindi 10M, GK 10M, Reasoning 10M, Computer Literacy 10M, Child Development & Pedagogy 50M, Subject Teaching 80M. CTET Paper 1 must be cleared before applying.
D.El.Ed is the minimum qualification for KVS PRT. Graduation is desirable and earns extra points in the interview. However, just D.El.Ed + CTET Paper 1 is sufficient to apply. Many successful KVS PRTs are only D.El.Ed qualified.
