What is ASRB NET?
ASRB NET (National Eligibility Test by Agricultural Scientists Recruitment Board) certifies candidates as eligible for (1) Lectureship/Assistant Professor positions at State Agricultural Universities across India, and (2) through the ARS pathway, ICAR Scientist positions at ICAR research institutes.
What is the eligibility for ASRB NET?
MSc Agriculture or allied sciences with minimum 55% marks (50% for SC/ST/PwBD) from an ICAR/UGC-recognised university. For the ARS (Scientist) component, age limits and additional criteria apply.
What is the difference between ASRB NET and ICAR ARS?
ASRB NET qualifies candidates for Lectureship at SAUs. ICAR ARS (Agricultural Research Service) is the direct recruitment pathway to Scientist posts at ICAR institutes. Both are conducted by ASRB, but ARS involves an additional Viva Voce and has vacancy-specific recruitment. Some exams combine both objectives.
Is ASRB NET certificate permanent?
Yes. The ASRB NET Lectureship eligibility certificate does not expire. Once you qualify, you remain eligible for Assistant Professor positions at SAUs for life.
