SBI Clerk Selection Process 2026
The State Bank of India (SBI) conducts the recruitment process for the SBI Clerk (Junior Associate) post through a three-stage selection process. Candidates must qualify in both the Preliminary Examination and the Main Examination, followed by the Local Language Proficiency Test (LLPT). Only those candidates who successfully clear each stage of the selection process are considered for the final appointment.
It is important to note that only the marks obtained in the SBI Clerk Mains examination are considered for the final merit list, while the prelims exam is qualifying in nature.
- Stage 1 – Preliminary Examination
The SBI Clerk Prelims Exam is the first stage of the recruitment process. It consists of 100 objective-type questions carrying 100 marks, and candidates are given 60 minutes to complete the exam.
- Stage 2 – Main Examination
Candidates who qualify for the prelims exam are eligible to appear for the SBI Clerk Mains Exam. The mains examination includes 190 questions for a total of 200 marks, and the total duration of the exam is 2 hours 40 minutes.
- Stage 3 – Local Language Proficiency Test (LLPT)
After clearing the mains exam, candidates must appear for the Local Language Proficiency Test (LLPT). This test is conducted to verify the candidate’s ability to read, write, and speak the local language of the state they have applied for. Candidates who have studied the specified local language in Class 10 or Class 12 may be exempted from this test. The LLPT is qualifying in nature.
